Summer Classes: These are the classes we know we are offering – others may be added if requested:
All Classes are $5 per class – pay as you attend:
Beginning Strings (for BRAND NEW beginners)
Advanced Beginners (for those who were in Beginning or Intermediate strings this year and would like to finish Book One)
String Ensemble – for students who are already playing in Concert or Symphonic Orchestra and would like more work on advancing technique and repertoire. We’ll be playing famous pieces like Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Nutcracker, Wedding music, and other classics!
Winds – Small group classes will be put together for students who want to complete the book they are currently working in.
Marching Band – this class is to get the new rising 8th grade students or other new students who wish to participate in Marching Band in the Fall. We’ll work on Stand Music (pep band music) as well as the music for the show.
Drumline – for students who plan to audition for the 2012 Marching Band Drumline. We’ll be working on cadences, skills and the new marching band music.
Drum Ensemble – for ANYONE who wants to play! there will be simple ensembles as well as very advanced ensembles. The music will vary from world drums to drumset, xylophone, snares etc.
Celtic Dance – for beginners
Celtic Dance – for experienced dancers who want to learn more of the standard dances – we plan to attend some of the Scottish Country Dancing Socials – where we will dance with other groups from around the state – we need to learn more of the standard dances!
Swing Dance – for beginners
Swing Dance – for ADULT BEGINNERS (4 weeks only – ending in a dance just for adults)!
Advanced Swing Dance – learn new moves, new styles

Sock Hop: There will be a rehearsal on Thursday at 4:00 for the Swing Choir and Fire Choir students who are going to participate in the Sock Hop on the 19th of May.

Instruments: Please turn in ANY CFAF or Farley instruments this week so we can inventory them for insurance purposes – you may check them back out next week (or the first week of June when summer classes begins). Some students need to be sized to see if they need to move up to a larger instrument (string players).

This is a list of what I need to have happen this week: Tuesday
Move the rest of our boxes from Chalcedon to the CFAF Building 2:00. Need 4 strong helpers – please let me know if you can help out!
Inventory and label instruments – 2:00: Need 3 people to work on this at 2:00
Stage music filing – 3:00: I need 6 people to help with this
Clean restrooms and mop tile flooring – 3:00: I need 4 helpers
Organize and clean kitchen – 3:00 – frig/freezer, microwave, sink, counter, organize cabinet space (labels would be great) – list supplies we need and supplies we’d LIKE to have: 2 helpers
Alphabetize Choral Music and file choral music 4:00 – 3 helpers
Scrape old lettering off back door – 4:00 – 1 helper
Tighten up our nice black stands – 4:00 (I’d also LOVE to stencil CFAF on them with white spray paint so we KNOW which stands are ours) – 2 helpers
Replace missing or burned out light bulbs (ADULT HELPER ONLY) 4:00 – 2 helpers
There are several small jobs for a “handyman” if someone is available (ANYTIME)
Outdoor work – 4:00 – collect trash from around our side of the building grounds – load trailer with larger pieces – wash exterior windows and doors – 4 to 6 helpers
Wash interior windows – 4:00 – 4 to 6 helpers
Computer Work! – ANYTIME – I need 1 person to fix up our summer camp posters (use our computer or yours) and print them out so everyone can take some to put up at schools, churches, Starbucks, youthgroups, library, etc
Dusting and Vacuuming – 4 volunteers 5:00
Organize and file Band and Orchestra Music – 3 volunteers – 5:00
Organize and file piano, voice, children’s, guitar, solo and ensemble music – 3 volunteers – 5:00

Additionally, Mrs. Hickman might want some help with the costumes

Thursday – 8:00pm Clean Carpet – 2 volunteers. There will probably be some more filing left to do on Thusday for anyone who can assist with that.

6:00 – 7:00 – Master Class – Open to all, Jazz Band students should be prepared to play some of your spring pieces – Chicken? Autumn Leaves? Birks Works? Jericho? Georgia? etc. Taylor, Zeke, Andrew and Alex might also want to play one of your pieces (Summertime, perhaps)
7:30 – 8:30 – Professionals in Concert! Open to all – please plan to attend if you are available – this is a great opportunity to hear outstanding musicians right in our own building! I’m so thrilled to be able to host this group and I think you’ll LOVE what you hear!

Concert begins at 7:00 pm

Please make sure to see Lisa Long to pay the $5.00 Concert fee* if you have not already done so. Admittance is FREE so invite family and friends!

Students using CFAF costumes also need to give the fee for the costume to Mrs. Hickman.

There are NO Classes on Thursday. All CFAF classes for this semester are now completed. Summer classes begin in June.

Schedule for Thursday: Parents – you may want to bring a water bottle and small snack for your younger children

5:00 – Swing Choir and Fire Choir arrive at Falany – rehearse on stage

5:30 – Middle School Swing arrives to rehearse on stage

6:00 – Swing Kids arrive

6:15 – Orchestra, Band, Jazz Band, CFAF Singers, Madrigals, Middle School Chorus, Men’s Chorus should be in the performance hall sitting quietly and waiting for instructions.

7:00 – show begins!

Please make SURE you have your instrument – your music – your costumes! Please take all these items BACK with you when you leave! We will collect costumes and band uniforms on MAY 8th – Picture Day. Please, please come and get your yearbook photo taken as well as the group photos.

Very important information is at this PDF link.  If you don’t read this, you won’t know how to handle the shipping fees and other guidelines related to the sale.  PLEASE take some time to read it and then come and see me on Tuesday or Thursday, at CFAF or see Courtney or Cayla at the USO Show on Thursday.  We will give you the paperwork, but you must also refer to the attached instructions.

Remember we will make 50% on every sale so the profit stands to be great if we all work hard.

This is a FREE show and open to all to attend. (Donations gladly accepted)

Performing groups: Middle School Swing, Elementary Chorus, Fire Choir, the “Andrews Sisters”, CFAF Jazz Band, and various soloists

The show will be about one hour – with dancing afterward until 10:00!

New Facility Rental Rates for birthday parties, graduation parties, receptions, dinners, church services, etc.

• Weekdays – $75 rental fee plus $25 per hour of use to cover utilities

• Friday and Saturday Evening Fees -  $125 fee plus $25 per hour

• Sunday Church Services: $250 per day includes utilities, use of Brick Room (Chapel), Sunday School/Nursery Rooms (when the construction is completed there will be 3 rooms), Kitchen/Fellowship area.
