Elementary Strings

Elementary Strings

A class for students with no experience on an orchestral string instrument. Students will learn to care for, tune, and proficiently play one of the four orchestral string instruments: violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Students will also learn to read music as well as critically analyze the music they will be playing and listening to. A wide variety of music is explored, as well as theory, music history, and ear training. There are two performances per year, one in December and one in May.

For Elementary Age Students
Performance Attire: black pants/skirt, black shoes, white shirt/blouse
Instructor: Hedy Farley

Students need to have their instrument and Essential Elements 2000 for Strings Book One (for their instrument). These books can be purchased at most local music stores or on Amazon.com. CFAF also has books for most instruments available to rent.
